Vertical monitors make the screen vertical, (same as its name says) therefore, you get to have less scrolling and less eye strain. Reading long-form articles, media and video editing and other creative tasks are more ideal on a portrait display screen. So vertical monitors are used by professionals who want the best and uncompromised multitasking with uninterrupted results!

What is a Vertical Monitor?

Vertical monitor is not a different looking screen. However, the ergonomic setting of its swivel, title, and pivotal adjustment is what makes it a vertical screen. If your monitor does not offer you ergonomics you cannot make it vertical and doing so would result in breakage of the display screen.

You may have seen the portrait screen in the chic LCD advertisements and on the desks of professionals. Probably, if you have been using a horizontal screen for all of your life, shifting towards a vertical screen might feel oddly new for obvious reasons. However the benefits and freedom you get with a portrait screen is undeniable. Although each user has his preference of using screen tilt and other features, below we shall take a critical analysis on how a vertical monitor can be beneficial for you, specifically!

Capture less Space

One of the major perks that you get with a vertical LCD monitor is the smart placement. Its up-down style screen uses the vertical area on your desk and gives you the freedom to use more desk space. If you have a lot of things to place on the desk, if the desk is rather confined, only a vertical monitor choice would be worthwhile.

Hat said, it never compromise on the work efficiency and overall PC working while you use the vertical alignment to the monitor. You get more productivity and less hassle, in short.

Easier Multitasking

For photo editing, color grading, coding and reading multiple long-form articles, vertical monitors come with improved performance for that matter. Also the multitasking and split screen becomes real-time smart unlike an ordinary or regular horizontal display.

Usually vertical screens let out the best result when you want to showcase a presentation with detail, or when you want to compare different images, or media results simultaneously.

Easy Reading and video watching

With a vertical monitor you can read PDFs, write on Google Docs, and handle spreadsheets and much more with enhanced ease and productivity. That makes a vertical monitor or portrait screen highly valuable for its beneficial being. Most of the views are in vertical alignment and that can only handle a vertical monitor efficiently.

Data Monitoring

Vertical monitor and portrait screen also bring in the best when it comes to monitor the update in a glance. With more detailed screen and split screen features, if your monitor offers that feature, you get the most out of such screen alignment and that is what professionals lean on.

How to set up a Vertical Monitor?

Newbies and freshers often get confused when it comes to using the new technology or gadget for the first time. And that happens mostly because of the relatively common news approach. If you are thinking you just have to hold the screen flip it around and you are done with the vertical monitor set-up you are absolutely wrong!

This is because you need to make the display sync with the hardware alignment of the screen as well. So if you have bought a portrait display screen and are wondering how to set up a vertical monitor, here is what you need to do.

The Software Step

For the software step, make sure the screen is connected with wired properly and the display is on. Go into Setting Icon in the start menu and opt for the system and look for the Display title.

From there you will see multiple settings as landscape, portrait, landscape flipped, and portrait flipped. So choose the display orientation according to the display resolution and you are done!

The same thing can be done as: right click on the desktop anywhere and opt for the display resolution. From now you will see three main titles as resolution, display and orientation.  Click on orientation and choose the portrait setting.

The Hardware Step

Now once you are done with the software solution, now flip the display monitor. However, while doing so I am pretty careful to not damage dislocating the hardware by putting too much pressure.

If your monitor is with a stand, flip the screen into vertical alignment. The rotation should be smooth if the monitor has been designed with such an ergonomic setting. But if you face any issues while doing so, look for the user’s manual that comes with the monitor for better assistance.

Note: You can also opt for the hardware step first, however it can be a little bit difficult for you to operate.
